The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard places certain security and confidentiality obligations on organizations that process credit card payments. Any company or person involved in the processing of payment card data needs to be aware of the PCI Standard and of the obligations imposed by PCI DSS and the process of PCI compliance.

PCI Compliance

The PCI Security Standards Council outlines the objectives of the Payment Card Industry Digital Security Standard. Sample PCI DSS procedures for security includes firewall antivirus security, web application security, protection against credit card fraud and ensuring customer data security and confidentiality. Organizations need to be aware of these security standards when undertaking a PCI Compliance project or initiative to ensure all process and procedures are PCI compliant.
